Most school-age children living in Woodmere attend grades PK-12 in the Hewlett-Woodmere Union Free School District. The district, which also serves some students from Hewlett, Woodsburgh, North Woodmere, Valley Stream, Hewlett Harbor, Hewlett Neck and Hewlett Bay Park, features:
- One PK-1 school;
- Two 2-5 schools;
- One 6-8 school; and
- One 9-12 school.
Hewlett-Woodmere UFSD has won numerous accolades. Newsweek named Hewlett High on its Top 25 High Schools in New York list, it was recognized it as a Blue Star School and it was a Grammy Signature School Semi-Finalist for 2012.
Hewlett High is also a National Academy of Music Arts and Sciences school and one of three districts in the county with a certified CISCO CCNA Academy. Students may choose from 18 AP courses and receive college credit from Syracuse University and Long Island University.
