Takoma Park

Welcome to Takoma Park

College Park is a city of 30,000 residents in Prince George’s County, about 7 miles northeast of downtown Washington, D.C., inside the I-95/495 Capital Beltway. It is bordered by Beltsville on the north, Greenbelt on the east, Hyattsville on the south and Adelphi and Takoma Park on the west. Commercial development in College Park began in the 1920s, giving way to four distinct neighborhoods (Lakeland, Berwyn, Daniels Park and Hollywood), each with their own unique cultures and housing styles. While College Park is best known as the home of the University of Maryland, it also offers a wealth of shopping, dining, entertainment and recreational opportunities for residents of all ages. It houses the “Archives II” portion of the US National Archives and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Center for Weather and Climate Prediction, as well. Prospective buyers can expect to find a number of historic, single-family Shingle, Queen Anne and Stick-style homes. Also, since college students account for roughly 50% of the city’s population, much of College Park’s area is dedicated to student housing.
