Redwood City  is the county seat, a center of high-tech industry, and the midpoint of the San Francisco Peninsula. Through its miles of San Francisco Bay shoreline, diverse neighborhoods and vibrant downtown, Redwood City is a community that offers great variety in housing, employment, recreation, entertainment, education, and city services. It is home to several technology companies, including Oracle and Electronic Arts. Redwood City is a heavily developed mixed city, with huge dense urban areas, less dense exurbs to the south and southwest, and rural upscale hillside neighborhoods. It is a very diverse cosmopolitan city and a newly popular destination in the peninsula and the Bay as a whole.
