Pleasant Hill is located in the heart of central Contra Costa County, 28 miles east of San Francisco and midway between Walnut Creek and Concord (three miles to the south and north). It is a very family friendly community with a “green” city government that is committed to conserving natural resources. The downtown offers a 16-screen movie theater, dozens of retail shops and services, and a wide array of eateries, from fast food to upscale dining. The city has a full, year-round calendar of seasonal festivals (Downtown Plaza Concert Series; Art, Wine & Jazz Festival; International Jewish Film Festival), and there’s a very popular Saturday morning Farmers’ Market from May to November. The community is home to both a new Teen Center and Senior Center. With approximately 700 employees, the Mt. Diablo School District is the city’s largest employer.
