Piedmont

Welcome to Piedmont

Piedmont is a charter city (approx. pop. 11,000) that is surrounded on all sides by the city of Oakland, 13 miles east of San Francisco. It is located in the Oakland Hills, overlooking San Francisco Bay, and is almost entirely residential, consisting almost exclusively of single-family homes. The city relies primarily on property taxes and fees for public revenues to support public services. Piedmont provides its own fire, police, parks, and recreational service, but does not have its own public library or post office; these services are shared with Oakland. Within the city’s 1.7 square-mile area there are five city parks, City Hall, a community hall, a recreation center, a community pool and a center for the arts.
