Welcome to Montgomery

Montgomery  is situated near the southern tip of Somerset County, immediately north of Princeton. Flat plains, densely wooded areas, orchards and farmland combined with its proximity to New York City and Philadelphia make Montgomery a highly desirable place to live. Travel time to each major city is about the same, and they can be accessed via US Route 1 or I-95, respectively. Montgomery, primarily a bedroom-community, is conveniently located amid a vast network of highways and comprehensive public transportation system, which cut down on commute times and hassle. The Lenni Lenape tribe inhabited the area for roughly 20,000 years before European landowners began settling the area in the late 1500’s. Today, residents can still catch a glimpse of the community’s historic past through its covered bridges and Colonial architecture. New Jersey Family magazine calls Montgomery the second-best N.J. town for families.
