Welcome to Melrose

Melrose (approx. pop. 27,000) is a bustling city located in eastern Middlesex County about 7 miles north of Boston. Ranked the “most desirable” city to live in within the US by Realter.com in 2015, Melrose is a mecca for young professionals and families due to its exceptional public transit system, thriving downtown, and relative affordability. The city’s location on in the valley north of the Mystic River and its high number of ponds and streams earned the name “Ponde Fielde” in the 1600s, which translates to “Mystic Side.” It shares a border with four cities: Malden, Saugus, Stoneham and Wakefield and is centrally located in the center of a triangle of major highways (US Route 1, Interstates 93, 95), making travel throughout the East Coast quick and easy.
