Welcome to Hinsdale

The Village of Hinsdale (pop. 17,000) is one of the wealthiest towns in Illinois, and is known locally for its beautiful residences, superior schools, and tree-lined streets. Its vibrant, charming downtown features some 155 retail shops alone, making it a regional shopping destination for those looking to escape “Anywhere USA” malls. Located 20 miles west of Chicago, Hinsdale has three Metra-rail stations that provide local and express (25 minutes) train service into the city. The village is very popular among families with young children in part because of numerous “small-town” activities such as a Fourth of July parade, a farmer’s market, and special Halloween and Christmas events, and because of the enormous number of classes, camps, activities and programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department.
