The Town of Duxbury (16,000 pop.) is located on Cape Cod Bay, 35 miles south of Boston. It is a lovely residential community with a landscape that includes dunes, salt marshes, lakes, ponds, cranberry bogs, forests, farms, fields, and one of the most beautiful beaches in New England. Duxbury is home to multiple historic sites and an active cultural scene. Not surprisingly, water-related activities and facilities (yacht club, town dock, swimming, sailing, kayaking) are a big part of life here. Numerous conservation land areas and parks provide places for hiking, dog walking, horseback riding, and biking. There are several small shopping areas throughout town and larger shopping malls in the neighboring towns of Kingston and Pembroke. Duxbury is widely regarded as one of the most desirable and picturesque communities in Massachusetts.
