Welcome to Bethesda

North Bethesda is a census-designated place of 60,000 residents about 12 miles north of downtown Washington, D.C. Although it’s boundaries are not officially defined, it is bordered by Bethesda on the south, Potomac on the southwest, Rockville on the north and Silver Spring and Chevy Chase on the southeast. Largely a bedroom-community, residents have many options for reaching downtown D.C., including the Capital Beltway (I-495), which bisects the southern section of the CDP, and three different Washington Metro stations. It’s also home to several major employers, such as Lockheed Martin, Coventry Healthcare and Marriott International. North Bethesda doesn’t have much to offer in the way of a downtown, but residents enjoy having the option to choose between Rockville and Bethesda while taking advantage of the affordable housing options North Bethesda has to offer.
