Welcome to Belmont

Belmont (25,000 pop.) is located eight miles northwest of Boston, on the western border of Cambridge. Known as “The Town of Homes,” it boasts quiet, tree-lined streets and an exceptionally large variety of homes-mid-to late-19th-century period homes, condos in historic buildings, the mansion-filled Belmont Hill neighborhood, and a luxury townhouse complex where each home has a private courtyard or entertainment-sized deck. There are three major commercial centers in town, each with its own distinctive style. Belmont has long been a haven for artists, academics, and writers. Famous past and present residents include former Governor Mitt Romney, Winslow Homer, Frederick Law Olmsted and Yo Yo Ma. Today, Belmont is one of the most desirable residential communities in the greater Boston area.
