Welcome to Belmont

Belmont is an affluent city approximately 25 miles south of San Francisco. The small (less than five square miles) incorporated town has a very rural feeling – there are few sidewalks and no proper downtown. The retail hub is Carlton Village, which has a Lunardi’s grocery store and approximately 45 shops and services. Many neighborhoods are located in the hills, which are forested with mature trees. The major employer in the area is the Oracle Corporation, a multinational computer technology corporation headquartered in nearby Redwood City. Belmont’s public school district is widely recognized as one of the strongest in the state. A city ordinance bans smoking in all businesses and multi-story apartments and condominiums; it is one of the strictest in the nation.
