Welcome to Barrington
The Village of Barrington (pop.10,353), 40 miles northwest of the Loop, is an eclectic mix of small-town charm and metropolitan resources set amongst generous gifts from Mother Nature. Founded in 1865, this horsy northwestern suburb offers plenty of room for families to spread out, and feels far more removed from Chicago than it actually is. (The Metra train stops right in the center of town.) The village boasts a stunning array of historic homes, upscale shops and boutiques, a wide variety of quality restaurants, pubs and coffee houses, dozens of parks, art galleries and cultural amenities on par with those of large metropolitan areas. It is close to major transportation, has a progressive village government and top-ranked healthcare resources. In 2015, the village will celebrate its sesquicentennial (150th) anniversary.
